Our First Lady Sharon M. Darden
Sharon was born on February 3, 1967, and is a native of Lancaster, PA. She completed her primary and secondary education in Lancaster, PA., where she graduated from McCaskey High School.
After graduation, she joined the United States Army. She attended Basic Training at Ft. Jackson, SC., and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Ft. Gordon, GA. She then received orders for permanent change of station (PCS) to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where she met and later married Don A. Darden, Jr., on July 15, 1989. Through this happy union, she gave birth to a son, Stephon J. Darden (US Army), and a daughter, Alexis (Atlanta). She is a veteran of Desert Shield and Desert Storm (Kuwait) and is a proud recipient of the Army’s Southwest Asia Medal—3 Bronze Service Star.
First Lady Sharon Darden’s vision for Liberty Baptist Church mirrors that of her husband, Pastor Don A. Darden, Jr. That is, for the people of God to be ‘United in the same Purpose’ (Ephesians 4:4-16 KJV). As First Lady, her Stewardship Ministry is to: Express God’s Person, Extend God’s Presence and Exhibit God’s Power as we live in the flow of the Spirit.
Some of the key benefits of her Evangelistic Ministry are: (1) equipping and empowering women for service, (2) mentoring the next generation of young women for Christ, (3) helping young women and single mothers to know their worth, (4) tackling the task and challenges of a deeper commitment in our walk with God, (5) and encouraging women to use their tongue to tell the story.
